THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED TO L'AGULHAS

I still have not done it. Not once in my fifty one odd years of age. My daughter has finished it about ten times. And she's still practically a baby, a mere 22 years of age. It shows you one is never to old to learn (experience) something and never to young to know something of worth and value.

But she has taken the road less travelled. She has chosen this path less travelled, enjoyed it and shamed a lot of us that is still hesitant.

Let me introduce you the road between Struisbaai and L'Agulhas. No, not the one you've taken previously in your VW Beatle or your Pajero.

Get out of your motor car, at grass roots level and hit the road on foot to L'Agulhas (from the Struisbaai side) or to Struisbaai (from the L'Agulhas side)

Let yourself be guided by the Nike motto: "Just do it".

She told me about the smells, the sights, the aching feet at the end. But she also told me afterwards that the experience is life changing in many ways.

What to take and wear: a good pair of walking shoes, a hat, suntan, a water bottle (optional) and maybe a lightweight camera.

What you don't need: a GPS, a compass (just follow the road), a watch and timetable.
